Kaakana, our cottage in Äkäslompolo, Lapland, was named by our mother Mirja. “Kaakana” is a Savonian dialect twist of kaukana — “far away” — as in far away from it all, on holiday. The location is excellent: right next to cross-country ski and outdoor trails, and within walking distance of services. The spacious rooms offer plenty of comfort and harmony even for a larger group, and the sauna fits the whole family. Our dedicated ski-service room is a favourite among active guests.
